My Best Year Yet – Lessons from 2014
What an incredible year 2014 was. I am filled with so much gratitude for the adventures, joy and love I have and continue to experience. Early in 2014 I fell in love. And with that came many adventures (travel, camping, hiking – some of my favourite things to do) and some wonderful, at times challenging, self-discoveries in the areas of my freedom, vulnerability and love. This past year also provided me the opportunity to: publish my first book; launch my life transformation coaching business and become a student in the Harmony Integration Academy Master Coach Mastermind program; explore my world as a blogger; meet, reconnect and/or deepen my relationship with some incredible people; guide my youngest as she entered high school; and to share in the joy as my eldest daughter was recognized with the prestigious Governor General Caring Canadian Award. Over the course of the year my definition of family deepened and expanded and my sense of self not only stretched but I took a deep dive. Both the privileged and the responsibility of “she designed the life she loved” became understood, appreciated and honoured.
2014 was an incredible year. And I trust 2015 will be my best year yet! Building on my lessons from the previous year, below are some of my greatest lessons of 2014:
To love without conditions is both possible and absolutely freeing. When I am aligned with this truth there is nothing sweeter. When I fall out of alignment, as I still do at times, I honour my human experience, exploring the depth of who I am and adjusting my path when needed in order to find that sweet spot.
I have learned to give myself permission to wobble at times. To know that my emotions are my direct connection to my soul. So when I feel off, out of sorts or even unhappy, I know this means I am out of alignment. And that is perfectly ok. I also choose not to stay in the wobble for very long. I now have tools to reach for at these times. Life is just so much sweeter when I focus my thoughts, desires, decisions, habits and choices on things that align with my values and leave me feeling good.
I am the creator of my life. I do this by my thoughts, that produce my actions, that produce habits, that produce my destiny. I know what I stand for and I monitor my thoughts. It’s my choices, the path I am on, that define who I am. “We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day” Richard G. Scott.
In facing my fears and choosing love I find myself waking more and more of my days falling deeply in love with each and every aspect of my life; embracing the best of times and the worst of times. Seeing the beauty in all of my experience, even those disguised as discomfort or pain, and ending more and more of my days in the joy of living my life fully.
So much of what I am most proud of over the last year comes directly from listening to the whispers of my soul, taking a leap of faith, moving beyond the obstacles, pushing past the fears, rising to the challenge(s), opening my heart to love and living each day fulfilling my life purpose. When I pay attention to what stirs my soul, what makes me smile, what motivates me, these are the things worth investing my time and going after.
I wish for each and everyone of you the same. Dream and dream big. Then give it all you’ve got to make those dreams your life. Face your fears, choose love, view life through the lense of wonder, have fun and enjoy the journey!
With love and gratitude always
