I miss the long hot days of summer. My toes miss the freedom of being barefoot. My skin misses the sun’s kisses. Summer is by far my favourite time of year and the month of January is good for…snuggling under the blankets and setting my intentions for the upcoming year.
I believe if you want a life you love you must design it. That starts with setting your intentions.
2015 was another incredible year. One filled will much love, adventure and joy! One of my set intentions for 2015 was another year filled with adventure and travel. And what an incredible year of travel and adventure it was.
It started with another trip to BC where I took a deep dive into my personal development studies, hiked in the dense rich forests, gazed at the breathtaking mountains in the distance, and soaked up the energy from the ocean waves.
Then mid summer I experienced the beautiful busy streets of Hong Kong. I silenced my mind to feel the peace resonate within as I meditated on top of a mountain ridge under the magnificence presence of the Big Buddha. And experienced the thrill of adventure as I got us lost on the public transit, as we desired an authentic HK experience.
To then have my soul welcome me home as I dove into the ocean waters in Bali. My breath underwater hypnotizing as the sea life danced in delight just for me. Exploring the lush rich forests, the mountains, the lakes and the volcanic ridges, to embracing the surreal stillness that arrived as I surrendered to the peace within the chaos of the streets. My heart opened to a deeper level of vulnerability and love as I connected and engaged from a very soulful place with so many beautiful people.
Ending the year off in Maui where freedom and love penetrated each and every moment. The ocean once again inviting me to explore and bath in it’s wonders, the forests enchanting and the sun nourishing every fiber of my being. With the wind in my hair, the sun on my face and the sand in-between my toes, my soul danced in the freedom.
What an incredible year!
As 2016 has started it is time for me to set my intentions for this coming year. To help me do that I reopened the book by Brandon Burchard, The Charge. A fabulous read for those who want to take their life from good to great. One of the exercises in this book is to set your intentions:
- Three words I would love to define the way I think of myself.
- Three words I would love to define the way I interact with others.
For this coming year my words are:
Love: to love deeply and to see and experience my world through the eyes of love
Joy: to experience joy in all that I do
Adventure: this is what stirs my soul
Present: to wake up to the NOW
How I hope others will see me:
Authentic
Inspiring
Engaged
Using each of these seven words as themes, I have then defined goals. I think there is real value in handwriting and creating visual reminders, so I have created a separate page for each theme with its corresponding goals. Once my seven sheets (vision boards) were completed, I posted them on the back of my bedroom door so each night before going to sleep and each morning upon waking I am reminded of the life I am designing!!
May 2016 be the best year yet (again)!!
